When booking a party or event a 50% deposit of the estimated or actual
total will be required to secure the date. The deposit is non-refundable
if the party is cancelled within 14 days of the party date, although
we are happy to rearrange at no additional cost. Please send
a cheque, made payable to your organiser, at the address as listed
on the ‘Contact Us’ page.
The party or event host will need to provide details of the pottery items and quantities that are to be painted at the party. We will need to receive these details at least one week before the party, but please be aware that some items are very popular and it is advisable to give as much notice as possible so we can ensure the items are in stock. If an item is not in stock you will be offered alternatives.
The cost of each item is usually fully inclusive of paint, glazing and firing. In some instances, we reserve the right to charge a ‘painting fee’ per person.
The cost of the party or event will be the total cost of all the items requested. If not all items are painted, the organiser reserves the right to charge the full amount as anticipated at time of booking. There may be a minimum spend for a party or event. The balance of the cost (less the 50% deposit) must be paid on the day of the party or event by cash or cheque.
If you wish to have longer than 1.5 hours (not including our travel time and clearing up) then a larger minimum spend may be required.
The finished items will be ready within an estimated 7 days after the date of the party or event.
If the return address lies further than 30 miles of OX11, the organisers reserve the right to send finished items back to the host via courier at the host’s expense. If any items are damaged in transit via courier, the organiser reserves the right to offer compensation in the form of a credit note only.
All items will be suitable for use with food and are dishwasher safe* but not suitable for microwave use.
If a guest at the party breaks an item it must be paid for but at a reduced cost of 1/3 of the original price (subject to a minimum of £2). A replacement item can then be purchased and painted at full price.
It is recommended that at a child’s party, the parent also paints a piece. This is chargeable at full price, but allows for an unexpected breakage by one of the guests. In the unlikely event that an item is broken by us, as part of the glazing or firing process, then a full refund for that item will be made.
The party host or a parent is responsible for all children during a party or event.
All products used are non-toxic and will wash easily out of fabrics. It is not a dirty or dangerous activity and therefore Pottering About is not liable for any loss or damage to an individual’s property.
* We still do not recommend that you do this, as your items will not last as long.
